6 to 8 Years Relevant Experience
Join our Information Protection & Risk Management (IPRM) team as a Web Application Firewall Engineer. You will collaborate closely with the Cyber Security Technology group to deploy, manage, and monitor critical security controls protecting our enterprise web applications. This role plays a key part in sustaining security infrastructure and supporting security projects that safeguard our digital assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot web application firewalls (F5 ASM/AWAF and Akamai Kona) across the enterprise environment
- Deploy and maintain enterprise-grade WAF solutions, including Salt API Protection
- Provide day-to-day operational support for security infrastructure, with potential to expand responsibilities to other network security technologies such as Network Access Control and Firewalls
- Utilize strong troubleshooting skills, including packet capture analysis, CLI commands, and network protocol expertise
- Understand and apply application layer (Layer 7) TCP/IP security fundamentals to enhance protection measures
- Analyze application logs and collaborate with development teams to promote secure coding practices and mitigate vulnerabilities
- Participate in defining and improving processes to ensure security configurations and tools are consistently maintained and effective
Mandatory Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience deploying, managing, and supporting enterprise Web Application Firewall products (Akamai Kona, F5 ASM/AWAF, Salt API Protection)
- Solid understanding of network protocols and security fundamentals at Layer 7
- Strong troubleshooting abilities with experience performing packet captures and interpreting results
- Familiarity with CLI tools and commands related to firewall and network device management
- Ability to work collaboratively with developers and security teams to resolve security issues
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with scripting or coding (Python, PowerShell, or similar) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency
