6 to 8 Years Relevant Experience
We are looking for a skilled Tooling Design Engineer with 5–8 years of experience in the design and development of manufacturing tooling and fixtures. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in fixture automation, mechanical design, material selection, and manufacturing processes, along with the ability to work hands-on in structural analysis and engineering calculations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop automated fixtures and tooling for manufacturing processes.
- Select appropriate materials, machining, fabrication, and post-processing methods based on functional and structural requirements.
- Specify mechanisms and select OEM components such as motors, gearboxes, linear guides, casters, hoists, and bearings.
- Perform engineering calculations to support structural integrity and load-bearing capabilities of tooling systems.
- Apply sheet metal applications effectively within designs.
- Create detailed manufacturing drawings, define tolerances using GD&T, and ensure accuracy and manufacturability.
- Use UG NX (Unigraphics) for 3D modeling and drawing creation (preferred).
- Conduct structural analysis to validate design robustness using tools like Ansys or Nastran (desirable).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and procurement to deliver optimized tooling solutions.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Design, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in tooling design, fixture development, or manufacturing engineering.
- Strong understanding of mechanism design, OEM part selection, and mechanical integration.
- Proficiency in manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
- Familiarity with sheet metal design and fabrication.
- Hands-on experience in UG NX is a strong plus.
- Knowledge of structural analysis and exposure to simulation tools like Ansys or Nastran.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in working with automation tooling, fixture validation, and field testing.
- Familiarity with manufacturing industry standards and best practices.
- Ability to manage suppliers and coordinate with OEMs for technical evaluation and integration.
