The OMS - Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for manufacturing documentation, taking them from initial drafts to volume manufacturing IOMs. Daily tasks include creation, review, modification, and validation of OMSs to facilitate manufacturing/assembly at the supplier level and in Applied Materials manufacturing operations. The OMS ME routinely uses modeling and drafting software, principally Unigraphics/NX and Visio. Teamcenter is also used to access designs/models. Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and the ability to engage with the manufacturing floor to resolve issues is an added qualification for this role.
Responsibilities
- Interface with NPME, Manufacturing Engineers, Technicians, and Quality teams to develop optimal operation sequences for parts and assemblies.
- Identify key areas for product improvements and coordinate with other engineering functions to implement changes.
- Work closely with manufacturing operations management to prioritize areas for OMS/manufacturing documentation improvements.
- Work closely with the manufacturing floor and solve build issues, coordinating with offshore teams to complete assembly documents.
- Make recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
- Participate in new product builds and champion issue resolution.
- Determine root cause analysis for issues that arise during assembly and/or testing of systems; provide long-term corrective actions.
- Perform time studies to measure/record time for production processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned, depending on project and departmental goals.
Job-Specific Knowledge
- Manufacturing and assembly techniques, bill of materials, product/personnel safety requirements, material handling, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing engineering disciplines, theories, practices, and principles.
- Understanding of engineering change order process, product development process, and value engineering.
Skills
- Strong skills in product technology, product configuration and variant options, change management, problem solving, communication, customer orientation, personal effectiveness, team collaboration, and quality.
- Proficiency in systems and software including MS Visio, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
