4-6 Years of Relevant Experience
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Lab Administrator to manage and support our high-performance server and workstation computing environments within the AGS Data Center Labs.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in hardware setup, system configuration, and troubleshooting, along with hands-on experience in automation and CI/CD environments. This role requires a proactive professional capable of working independently while collaborating across engineering and development teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Setup: Assemble and configure hardware components (CPU/APU, GPU, memory cards, etc.) in server and workstation systems to support various user-defined workloads.
- System Maintenance: Perform initial troubleshooting and debugging of hardware, firmware, and software issues while maintaining system integrity across multiple development setups.
- Issue Management: Triage, reproduce, and validate fixes for issues identified by AGS development teams.
- Operating System Configuration: Install and configure various OS distributions directly from the console.
- Network Management: Set up and validate network gear and configurations to ensure seamless connectivity.
- Storage Administration: Configure file systems (VG/LV/Partitions) and manage diverse storage solutions such as NAS and SAN.
- Automation & CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated testing tools in CI/CD environments (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible).
- Monitoring & Reporting: Provide detailed logs, reports, and system statistics to support root-cause analysis and ongoing issue resolution.
- Inventory Management: Maintain and administer the lab’s hardware and system inventory through managed databases and tracking systems.
- Collaboration & Documentation:
- Work closely with internal teams in an Agile environment for planning and delivery.
- Use JIRA for task tracking and Confluence for documentation and communication.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve system reliability, efficiency, and automation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of server and workstation hardware architecture.
- Ability to read and interpret board schematics and hardware documentation.
- Hands-on experience with system configuration, firmware updates, and OS installations.
- Proficiency in network setup and validation.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, preferably with Jenkins or Ansible.
- Familiarity with Linux-based environments and command-line administration.
- Experience with inventory management systems and database tracking.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities in Agile or cross-functional team setups.
- Self-starter attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and drive them to completion.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms and cloud environments.
- Experience with test automation frameworks.
